Sort of. It's complicated. A lot of people are afraid of technology in my world. A lot of the rulers in my world look down on religion. There's a whole race of people who use technology who are outcasted, they're called the Al Bhed.

There's been some backlash against technology in my world, since it's been heavily involved in quite a bit of the problems we've had. But I think it's fairly universally accepted that it would be impossible to get rid of it all now, thankfully.

There's a big scandal involving our Church, that they were using technology behind closed doors. Maybe technology will come back to Spira one day, I don't know.

It's capable of some terrible things. But it can do just as much good in the right hands.

Also- yes. There are some of us who have had a lot of work- not quite a journey on my end, but things have become different now that we've got the issue with the monsters and whatnot.

It's a bit of a long story, but you seem nice, so I'll try my best to tell you. A thousand years ago, there was a big war against two cities, one that had technology- we call it machina- and one that had summoners, that's people like me. Yu Yevon, the leader of the summoner city created a monster called Sin that attacks cities and anywhere that uses machina. Summoners devote their lives to killing it, but it just keeps coming back.

If these monsters hadn't shown up, I'd be on my way to trying to destroy it, myself.

I don't look down on technology anymore, not after the people of Spira found out the church lied to everyone about what Sin really was. These poor people were living in fear of technology, and Sin. It's confusing, I hope I haven't confused you.

Maybe one day we'll embrace technology again.
